Supplier Quality Engineer | Wayland, MI

Salary Range: $75,000 - $108,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement supplier quality assurance plans and procedures.
• Conduct supplier audits (on-site and remote) to assess quality systems and processes.
• Monitor and analyze supplier performance data, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement.
• Review and approve supplier-submitted documentation, including First Article Inspections (FAIs) and control plans.
• Qualify new suppliers and components through rigorous evaluation and testing.
• Manage incoming material inspection processes and disposition of non-conforming materials.
• Act as the primary quality interface with assigned suppliers.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or a related technical field.
• Proven experience in supplier quality management, auditing, and corrective action processes within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and relevant industry standards.
• Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies such as SPC, FMEA, PPAP, APQP, and Root Cause Analysis.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills for effective supplier collaboration.
• Experience with supplier development programs and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with statistical process control (SPC) software and analysis.
• - Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
• - Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar professional certification.
• - Experience in supplier auditing and development programs.
• - Proficiency in a specific industry's quality standards (e.g., IATF 16949 for automotive, ISO 13485 for medical devices).
