Temporary Position Title: In-Take Customer Service Representative
Department/Division: Financial Aid / Student Services
Location: Flint, MI
Schedule: Part-Time, Monday–Friday, 4 hours per day (two available shifts: 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.)
Pay Rate: $17.63 per hour
Purpose of Role
Entech Staffing is seeking an In-Take Customer Service Representative to support an educational institution in Flint, MI. The individual in this role will provide front-line assistance to students and their families by explaining financial aid programs, application processes, and eligibility requirements at the federal, state, and institutional levels. Responsibilities include responding to student inquiries, guiding applicants through completing financial aid forms (such as the FAFSA), ensuring proper documentation, and delivering a positive and professional customer service experience. Some outreach and follow-up activities may also be required.
Key Responsibilities
Answer and manage a high volume of inbound calls (approximately 30–50 per day) in a courteous and efficient manner.
Greet and assist students at the front counter, providing timely and accurate information.
Support students in completing financial aid applications and uploading required documentation.
Verify student information and assist with resolving discrepancies or issues related to financial aid status.
Document all interactions and maintain accurate records in the student information system.
Provide excellent customer service by demonstrating empathy, patience, and professionalism, especially when working with frustrated or confused students.
Collaborate with Financial Aid and Student Services staff to ensure students receive clear communication and consistent support.
Assist with occasional outreach initiatives such as reminder calls, financial aid workshops, or information sessions.
Maintain confidentiality of all student and institutional information in accordance with FERPA and other applicable regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Some college coursework completed (Associate’s degree preferred).
Strong customer service experience, including professionalism, patience, and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with computers and common software applications (Microsoft Office, Google Suite).
Ability to learn and navigate student information systems and document management platforms.
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal).
Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain a consistent work schedule.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
Experience in a financial aid, student services, or call center environment.
Knowledge of federal and state financial aid processes (e.g., FAFSA, verification, disbursement timelines).
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) a plus.
