Brand Manager - Communications

Southfield, MI (Hybrid)

As the BASF Coatings Brand Manager, you will take responsibility for the consistent management and development of our global brand. This role goes beyond communication – it is about shaping and strengthening our brand identity as we are transitioning from being part of a large corporate group to becoming an independent company. As part of this transformation, we will also adopt a new corporate name in 2026. Together with agencies and our internal team, you will play a key role in building and rolling out the new brand.

You create chemistry by...

• Lead the development of the new standalone brand identity in close cooperation with agencies and internal stakeholders.
• Develop, maintain, and enforce the global Brand Guidelines of the company.
• Manage and further develop the central Brand Portal (e.g., Frontify) as the single source of truth for brand assets and tools.
• Oversee brand-compliant implementation of communication and marketing activities across the global network.
• Define and manage the brand architecture in close cooperation with Marketing and the different business units, including sub-brands, and product brands.
• Collaborate closely with the People & Culture team to ensure consistency between corporate brand and employer branding (EVP).
• Manage relationships with external agencies, including briefings, steering, and budget coordination.
• Define and track brand-related KPIs to measure awareness, recognition, and consistency.
• Provide templates, assets, and training to enable consistent brand application globally.
• Advise teams on brand strategy, visual storytelling, and positioning.
• Ensure legal and trademark considerations are included in brand development, in close collaboration with the Legal department.

If you...

• Degree in Marketing, Communications, Design, or a related field and 3 years related expertise OR five years significant relative experience in this field with high school diploma.
• Proven experience in branding, corporate design, or brand management launch.
• Strong knowledge of branding platforms (e.g., Frontify), digital asset management, and common design/presentation tools.
• Structured, detail-oriented working style with a strong sense for brand consistency.
• Excellent communication skills in English. Additional language skills are a plus.
• Ability to advise and influence global stakeholders and build awareness for brand-compliant communication.
