Senior systems engineer

Job Description

An Insight Global client is seeking a seasoned and forward-thinking Senior Infrastructure Systems Engineer to lead the evolution of its global enterprise IT infrastructure. This is a high-impact role that blends deep technical expertise with strategic architectural leadership. The ideal candidate will be hands-on with infrastructure operations while also contributing to modernization strategy, solution design, and cross-functional collaboration.

This role is critical to the organization's transformation efforts and will support both day-to-day operations and long-term infrastructure planning across a hybrid environment.

Infrastructure Operations: Manage and optimize Windows, Linux, VMware, Nutanix, and storage systems; provide third-level support and ensure high availability.

Architecture & Strategy: Lead modernization efforts for legacy systems; architect scalable and secure infrastructure solutions aligned with business goals.

Cloud & Virtualization: Support hybrid cloud strategy (Azure preferred); manage private cloud platforms and virtualization environments.

Automation & Efficiency: Develop scripts and automation using PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or Terraform; implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

Collaboration & Leadership: Partner with global teams (including a peer in India); engage with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience

Minimum 15 years of hands-on experience in enterprise IT infrastructure

Proven ability to design, deploy, and manage infrastructure across on-prem and cloud environments

Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills

Experience working in global, distributed teams

Automotive industry experience preferred

Strategic thinker with strong technical depth

Proactive problem-solver with high accountability

Effective communicator and collaborator

Passionate about continuous improvement and automation

Comfortable balancing operational support with architectural responsibilities
