Lead CNC Process & Programming Technician

Step Into a Day in the Life

You start by walking the CNC cell before the first cycle completes—coolant concentration gets checked, operators have what they need, and spare tooling is staged. A customer launch is on deck, so you load a fresh program you wrote in G-code/M-code, validate it against CMM outputs, and fine-tune offsets. Midday, you guide an operator through setup best practices, troubleshoot a lathe alarm, and coordinate a quick PM. By shift end, cycle times are down, scrap is reduced, and delivery commitments are on track—exactly how you like it.

What You’ll Do

• Partner with engineering on prototype processing, full production runs, and product launches.
• Program CNC machines using G-code and M-code; validate and optimize programs.
• Read CMM results and adjust tooling, offsets, and process parameters accordingly.
• Manage perishable/non‑perishable tooling inventory; stage spare tooling for each machine.
• Maintain a sufficient stock of spare parts for all CNC equipment.
• Ensure preventative maintenance is completed; troubleshoot maintenance issues and coordinate repairs.
• Diagnose and correct issues in production, prototypes, and launches.
• Check coolant concentration daily and correct as needed.
• Drive machining OEE improvement—reduce cycle time and downtime.
• Verify all customer minimum process requirements are capable and functioning on every CNC machine.
• Assist operators with daily tasks; run CNC or assembly operations when needed.
• Train operators on proper loading, machine operation, and process adherence.
• Perform additional duties as required.

How You’ll Do It

• Follow the Quality Management System, Environmental Management System, Safety practices, and Management Operating System documents relevant to your role.
• Operate in accordance with company rules and the Employee Handbook.
• Practice 5S daily—keep work areas clean, organized, and audit‑ready.
• Advance Lean initiatives: Kaizen, Kanban, OEE, SMED, and Six Sigma projects.
• Meet/exceed cost targets: production rates, scrap reduction, conformance to customer requirements, tooling maintenance, and delivery schedules.
• Promote a team‑first mindset and a safe workplace; report hazards via proper channels.
• Maintain acceptable attendance.

What You Bring

• High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years of CNC programming experience.
• Proficiency in: GD&T, equipment troubleshooting, CNC tooling, CNC programming, CNC machine repair and installation, G-code/M-code, and production run setups.

Machines & Technologies

• CNC Mills: 3–4 axis VMC (Fanuc, Mazak, Doosan, Makino, Brother, DMG Mori Seiki).
• CNC Lathes: 2–4 axis.

Physical Requirements

• Stand for up to 10 hours; twist, turn, and bend to floor level as needed.
• Exert 20–50 lbs of force occasionally; 10–20 lbs to load product.
• Lift 30–45 lbs occasionally.
