Chimney Installer / Mason / Residential Service Technician
Who Are We?
Hancock Chimney Service is a family owned and operated business that has been dedicated to providing quality service to west Michigan for over 45 Years. We pride ourselves on our ‘above and beyond’ work ethic.
We would like to invite one or two individuals to join our team. Our laid-back culture and flexibility with your home life are sure to make you feel welcome to the team. If you have any interest in home construction, this is the job for you! You will not only develop knowledge on chimneys, but also on the very basics of what it means to provide someone with a quality built home.
Our days start at 8am and end whenever the route is done, but generally before 5. We occasionally work Saturdays, but it's not mandatory. The job can be physical, including carrying materials up to 80lbs. We go on the roof of every home, so hopefully you enjoy great views from the heights. Many of our services are performed outside, allowing you to experience all aspects of Michigan weather!
Our starting pay for this position is $20/hr. We start new technicians doing a mix of online video training and supportive field work. Advancement in the company is based on performance and certifications earned along the way. Health, dental, and vision insurance are available to employees after 90 days of employment. Please submit your resume or application to [email protected].
We look forward to adding you to our team!
What do we do?
HCS is a home service company. We perform inspections and cleanings of chimney and venting systems to evaluate safety and performance. We execute repairs to the chimney system, on both the interior and the exterior. This requires our techs to have good people skills and be knowledgeable in venting, masonry, gas decorative appliances, and home pressures.
How?
At HCS we strongly believe that education in our field is important. All of field technicians are certified by either the Chimney Safety Institute of America or the National Chimney Sweep Guild. A new technician starts their education towards certification after reaching certain milestones in their first year with the company. To uphold your certification, continuing education credits are required. These are acquired by attending conventions, expos, and training courses. Individual certifications can be funded by HCS and will increase compensation.
Why?
A chimney technician with Hancock Chimney Service can be a very fruitful position for the right individual. Our goal is to have an ambitious employee to be making over $50k a year by their second year with the company. Some of our top technicians who have dedicated many years to HCS are making close to $100K. With the right drive and dedication, you could too!
If you think this might be a position that would interest you, please stop by our office and pick up an application. Due to current unemployment requirements, online applications will be reviewed, but only additional applications filled out in person will be considered.
