Summary
This position is supervised by and works with the Director of Operations. It is a part-time, at-will position that assists with daily operations of the Museum, including: the gift shop/admissions area, guest information, special events, cleaning, tours, display creation and maintenance, marketing, volunteer recruitment, general clerical work and other duties as assigned.
Hours
Expected to work when the Museum is open for normal business, including weekends , as well as for occasional events/parties/hall rentals/etc. Schedule may vary depending on the needs of the Museum. Depending on staffing needs and availability, the average work week may be 15-20 hours. Not to exceed 40 hours per week.
Physical Abilities
Able to stand for extended periods of time, able to lift 20 pounds, ability to perform light duty cleaning and other tasks. Able to read, write and speak English fluently.
Duties
Under the direction of, and working with, the Director of Operations, the Museum Associate may be responsible for the following duties:
· Museum operations, including daily opening, start-up, shut-down and closure.
· Admissions desk, including greeting guests, use of cash register and electronic payment devices, cash drawer finalization, daily and weekly sales reports.
· Gift Shop: keep items clean and orderly, re-stock as necessary, advise when items need to be ordered.
· Birthday Party Rentals: scheduling/calendaring, supply ordering and preparation prior to event, event space set-up, assist with party activities including museum tour, post-event clean-up.
· Event Space Rentals: providing rental information, calendaring, meeting with clients, contract preparation, event planning, event management including scheduling volunteers/staff for set-up and take-down.
· Light cleaning duties including, sweeping, dusting, bathroom cleaning and supplies, mopping, polishing, snow clearing.
· Docent: including scheduling and providing tours.
· General Office Duties: phone calls and messaging, membership mailings, online research, basic accounting spreadsheets.
· Other duties as assigned.
Core Skills
· Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft 365 Suite programs, including Office, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint
· Basic computer skills
· Knowledge of Adobe Suite programs
· Ability to use basic office equipment, including desktop computer, laptop computer, copier/scanner/printer.
