Diesel Heavy Equipment Mechanic

This position is vital for ensuring that our fleet of vehicles and machinery operates both efficiently and safely. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be tasked with diagnosing problems, executing repairs, and maintaining equipment to comply with industry standards.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose mechanical problems in heavy machinery and vehicles utilizing automotive diagnostic tools.
• Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on different types of machinery, including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers.
• Perform repairs related to transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, and HVAC components.
• Use schematics to troubleshoot electrical systems and carry out necessary repairs.
• Conduct fabrication tasks as required to facilitate equipment modifications or enhancements.
• Keep precise records of repairs and services conducted on all equipment.
• Deliver outstanding customer service by effectively communicating with clients about repair requirements and timelines.
• Safely operate heavy machinery during testing or repair activities.
• Follow safety protocols while engaging in heavy lifting and utilizing power tools.

Skills:

• Demonstrated mechanic experience with heavy equipment operation.
• Familiarity with OEM specifications for various machinery brands, including Caterpillar.
• Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and welding techniques.
• Strong comprehension of vehicle maintenance practices, including brake repair and tire service.
• Experience in the assembly and disassembly of industrial equipment components.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics for electrical systems.
• Knowledge of diesel engine repair techniques is highly advantageous.
• Capacity to perform fabrication tasks as necessary for custom solutions.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail in diagnostics.
