Job Title: Field Installation Carpenter – Temporary Structures
Job Description
This field-based role focuses on assembling, building, and installing temporary structures in commercial environments using hand tools and detailed work instructions. You will work as part of a team, perform physically demanding tasks, and contribute to safe, high-quality installations in a variety of outdoor and indoor settings.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, build, and install temporary structures in commercial environments using hand tools and work instructions.
- Follow detailed work instructions and drawings to ensure structures are built accurately and safely.
- Work in the field as part of a team to complete installation projects on time and to quality standards.
- Perform carpentry-related tasks such as framing, installing doors, windows, decks, roofs, cabinets, scaffolds, and finish products as needed for each project.
- Lift, move, and position materials and components weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the workday.
- Operate basic hand tools and construction tools safely and correctly while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Adapt to working in commercial construction environments, including active job sites with other trades present.
- Work outdoors and indoors in all weather conditions, adjusting work methods to maintain safety and productivity.
- Ask questions and seek clarification to fully understand tasks, installation methods, and safety procedures.
- Learn new installation techniques, tools, and processes and apply them consistently in daily work.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials, tools, and equipment from trucks and trailers as needed.
- Support the team with general labor tasks such as staging materials, site cleanup, and basic warehouse or yard duties when required.
- Travel with the team to various job sites, including additional travel during winter months as projects require.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of carpentry-type work experience, such as building or installing framing, cabinets, decks, roofs, doors, windows, scaffolds, or finish products.
- At least 1 year of experience performing physical labor, including being on your feet for extended periods and lifting and moving items up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively in a construction or installation setting.
- Experience working in construction, carpentry, building, roofing, concrete, farm work, warehouse labor, or similar physically demanding environments.
- Comfort working in commercial construction environments and around active job sites.
- Ability to work outside and in all weather conditions while maintaining safety and productivity.
- Willingness and ability to ask questions, learn new tasks, and be trained on new tools and installation methods.
- Capability to perform tasks such as loading and unloading trucks, warehouse pick/pack, and general labor when needed.
- Physical ability to repeatedly lift, carry, and maneuver materials up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Chauffeur’s license (strongly preferred).
- Previous experience building temporary structures, tents, or similar modular installations.
- Experience operating forklifts, hi-los, or other material-handling equipment in warehouse or construction settings.
- Experience in warehouse pick/pack, loading and unloading trucks, or general warehouse labor.
- Experience in farm work, roofing, or concrete work that demonstrates strong physical stamina and comfort with outdoor labor.
- Strong team orientation and communication skills to work effectively with field crews.
- Demonstrated reliability and willingness to travel to various job sites, including during winter months.

Work Environment
You will work primarily in commercial construction environments, both indoors and outdoors, on active job sites. The role is field-based and physically demanding, requiring regular lifting of up to 50 pounds, frequent standing, walking, bending, and carrying materials. You will use hand tools and basic construction equipment to assemble and install temporary structures, and may also work around forklifts, hi-los, and trucks during loading and unloading activities. Work takes place in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, and precipitation, so appropriate workwear and protective gear are essential. Hours are oriented around full-time work, with travel to various job sites and additional travel during the winter season as projects require.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Clemens, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
