Salary Range: $53,000 - $80,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive dimensional inspections of first article parts against engineering specifications.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models.
• Utilize a variety of precision measuring equipment, including CMMs, calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Verify material certifications, special processes, and finish requirements.
• Generate detailed First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and supporting documentation (AS9102, PPAP).
• Identify, document, and report non-conformances and discrepancies.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve inspection issues.
• Provide final approval or rejection of first article submissions based on compliance.

Recommended Qualifications

• Expertise in interpreting complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Proficiency in operating and calibrating precision measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, and CMMs.
• Comprehensive knowledge and practical application of First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements and industry standards (e.g., AS9102, PPAP).
• Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing quality assurance or inspection role, preferably in a precision machining or assembly environment.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent written communication skills for accurate report generation and non-conformance documentation.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso).
• Familiarity with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) for model interpretation.
• Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies or software.
• Certifications in Lean Six Sigma (Yellow or Green Belt).
• Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) software beyond basic data entry.
