Who We Are and What We Do
GNS America was established in 2009. Our core business is in conventional stamping, hot stamping, welding, and assembly. Our tool and die capability offer simulation and full design and build activities.
Hot and Conventional Stamping
GNS offers a complete range of stamping equipment. Our stamping facilities can cater to any required automotive and industrial stamping requirements. In our automotive operations, we have a full range of stamping capabilities in the 100 ton to 800 ton range, in multiple locations. Our stamping capabilities span a variety of metals.
Laser Cutting
GNS is a recognized leader in the use of laser technologies, GNS utilizes multi-axis laser cutting technology. Our multi-axis lasers are used for both prototyping and our large volume production for the automotive industry. In addition to cutting flat metal, GNS provides trimming and hole piercing services for three-dimensional parts. Our lasers have the versatility to cut a variety of metals with varying thickness and degrees of complexity.
Welding
At GNS, we use spot welding in the welding of Ultra High Strength Steel and Press Hardening parts. Our welding and assembly cells are highly automated. We use automated robots to perform several of the most complex and precise operations inside the welding cells to achieve maximum cost reduction and ensure we produce the highest quality products for our customers.
Position Summary
The Preventive Maintenance (PM) Planner is responsible for developing, coordinating, and optimizing preventive and predictive maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability, extend asset life, and minimize unplanned downtime. This role works closely with maintenance, operations, engineering, and safety teams to ensure maintenance tasks are planned, scheduled, and executed efficiently and in alignment with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance plans for all critical equipment and systems.
- Create detailed work orders, job plans, and task lists that include labor requirements, materials, tools, equipment, and safety precautions.
- Schedule maintenance activities in coordination with operations to minimize disruption to production or facility operations.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date PM schedule in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Analyze equipment performance data, failure history, and maintenance records to improve PM strategies.
- Identify opportunities to reduce downtime and increase asset reliability through improved PM routines and predictive technologies.
- Review and refine maintenance procedures and frequency based on reliability analysis and feedback from technicians.
- Collaborate with maintenance supervisors, technicians, engineering, and production teams to ensure clear work execution strategies.
- Communicate schedule changes, equipment downtime requirements, and maintenance priorities to stakeholders.
- Participate in daily/weekly planning meetings to align maintenance tasks with operational needs.
- Coordinate with the storeroom or procurement team to ensure parts, materials, and tools are available before scheduled work begins.
- Forecast long-lead or critical spare parts requirements.
- Assist in managing contractor services for specialized maintenance tasks.
- Maintain accurate asset records, PM procedures, and maintenance documentation within the CMMS.
- Ensure all planned maintenance activities comply with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality control procedures.
- Support audits, inspections, and compliance initiatives through accurate reporting and documentation.
Qualifications

Education & Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- 3+ years of maintenance planning, scheduling, or related maintenance experience.
- Experience using CMMS systems (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, Infor EAM, eMaint, Fiix, etc.).
- Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), predictive maintenance technologies, or lean maintenance methodologies is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and industrial equipment.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
- Solid understanding of maintenance workflows and best practices.
- Ability to read technical drawings, equipment manuals, and schematics.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret equipment data and maintenance metrics.
- Proficiency in MS Office and maintenance software tools.

KEY METRICS
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and/or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedural instructions. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plan and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Computer Skills
Ability to use a personal computer with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications most notably Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Ability to use main business information system (PLEX experience is preferred), and Internet based services. Proficiency with AutoCAD.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
