- Perform basic reception duties: answer telephone calls, take and transfer messages, screen individuals/calls, refer to the appropriate source, schedule appointments, and answer standard questions (escalating complex ones as directed).
- Perform basic records maintenance: routine record keeping, compiling, searching, numbering, and purging information/documents according to established procedures.
- Perform basic typing and word processing: edit data for accuracy, make necessary corrections, and perform data entry.
- Operate photocopier, fax, and other office machines.
- Perform administrative functions in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Assist with electronic documentation and ensure compliance with HIPAA requirements.
- Assemble equipment for phlebotomy (tourniquet, needles, sharps containers, collection devices, gauze, cotton, alcohol, etc.) according to test or procedure requirements.
- Perform phlebotomy and operate equipment under the supervision of a Laboratory Technologist.
- Verify or record patient/donor identity and provide reassurance to allay fear of the procedure.
- Prepare appropriate specimens for culture and transport.
- Must have appropriate technical, interpersonal and computer proficiency.

- A graduate of an accredited phlebotomy program and/or must have documented experience as a phlebotomist.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

- Provide effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards
- Prepare and process laboratory samples using established protocols
