As a Entry Level Field Technician at MSG, you will primarily provide support to Supervisory staff and other professionals. This position focuses on performing field testing and inspections of concrete, masonry, soils, aggregates, and asphalt etc. for various private and public projects. You will report to our Canton, MI office. Key Responsibilities- Conducting tests on concrete, masonry, soils, aggregates, and asphalt.
- Traveling daily to construction sites, with occasional overnight or weekend work (Local, Out of State, Canada etc.).
- Reporting observations and test results to project managers or engineers.
- Transporting equipment, test specimens, and documents, and assisting with equipment setup.
- Preparing and submitting daily field observation and summary reports electronically.
- Performing field density and quality control tests on construction materials.
- Supporting other technicians or departments as needed.
- The role requires adherence to safety protocols, the ability to interpret construction plans/specifications, and compliance with quality control plans and standard operating procedures.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations, remediation techniques, and geotechnical principles is preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- The role may involve working outdoors in various weather conditions and performing physically demanding tasks, such as lifting equipment, moving soil samples, and standing for extended periods. Willingness to travel to project sites and work in outdoor environments is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- American Concrete Institute (ACI) Testing Technician – Grade 1
- Nuclear Density Certification
- Preference to one or more of the following certifications ICC, NICET, CWI etc.
- While not required, a technical or associate’s degree and relevant work experience are preferred. Experience in materials testing, geotechnical drilling, or soil-related fields is a bonus.
