ABOUT THE ROLE

Support the Indirect Tax department by managing and reviewing property valuations and fuels tax to ensure fair and accurate assessments and to identify opportunities for assessment reductions. This role partners with internal and external stakeholders to minimize property tax liability while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

• Oversee property and fuels tax due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and divestments, to ensure integration

• Lead property tax cost-reduction initiatives, identifying opportunities to lower assessed values and tax liability

• Develop and execute annual property tax savings targets and track realized savings

• Manage end-to-end in-house valuation appeals, including: assessment reviews, drafting appeal documentation, and direct negotiation with assessors and appeal boards

• Engaging and managing third-party consultants and attorneys where appropriate

• Coordinate with Real Estate, Facilities, Legal, and Accounting teams on acquisitions, dispositions, and property changes

• Cross-train and provide assistance to other indirect tax areas

• Analyze audit findings, negotiate proposed adjustments, and minimize audit exposure, penalties, and future audit risk

• Assist with personal property tax audits as needed

• Identify and recommend process improvement solutions

• Conduct technical tax research relevant to tax incentives

• Other duties as assigned

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelor's degree

Field of Study Preferred: Accounting or Finance

Required Work Experience: 5 years

Required Computer and Software Skills:

• Experience with Vertex O Series, OneSource Indirect Tax, Avalara Tax, or similar tax engine knowledge required

• Experience with SAP preferred

• SOX Compliance controls preferred

• GAAP experience

• Strong computer skills, including spreadsheet and database applications

• Experience with other types of taxes is helpful

Travel Requirements : 10%

Additional Requirements:

• Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit test.
