Job Summary THIS ROLE IS LOCATED IN GRAND RAPIDS, MI!! As a Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in establishing and optimizing cost-effective, high-quality manufacturing processes. You’ll be the go-to expert for all equipment programming and training—especially on systems with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). - Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on equipment with PLCs (routers, waterjets, CNC machines, saws, robots, etc.)
- Design and develop optimal manufacturing processes through hands-on evaluation and applied research
- Analyze and manage production, labor, and material costs; support production planning and scheduling
- Prepare comprehensive reports to monitor trends and support decision-making
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards, including ITAR requirements
- Ensure equipment readiness through routine maintenance coordination and adherence to procedures
- Oversee process and product data entry through programming and system management
- Develop and launch an apprenticeship and formal internship program for new team members
- Lead initiatives in process improvement, training, and quality assurance
- Assist in plant layout planning, SOP development, and production systems enhancements
- May temporarily rotate shifts during onboarding and training phases
- Embody and promote tkMMS core competencies and values
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship
- Must meet ITAR compliance requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Technology preferred; Associate degree in Engineering considered with relevant experience
- 3–5 years of experience in a technical or manufacturing engineering role (equivalent experience considered)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tool design, and equipment use
- Familiarity with quality assurance and safety standards
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement
- Proficient in CAD and Microsoft Office Suite
- Project management experience
- Effective communicator and able to manage fluctuating workloads independently
