Position Summary
The Chief Academic Officer provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of all instructional programs, ensuring alignment with the district’s strategic plan and the Michigan Integrated Continuous Improvement Process (MiCIP). This role oversees K-12 curriculum, assessment, professional development, MTSS, English as a Second Language, and all early childhood programs, addressing the needs of the district in each of these areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serves as a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet
- Works collaboratively with the Superintendent, Board of Education, Administrators, staff and community members as appropriate.
- Implements Clintondale’s mission and vision by providing leadership in the areas of PreK-12 curriculum development, instruction, assessment and instructional programs.
- Leads and monitors district instructional initiatives, ensuring alignment with state standards, MiCIP goals, and board priorities.
- Works with administrators and teacher leaders in planning and implementing professional development as related to ongoing curriculum and instructional initiatives.
- Serves as a mentor and resource for colleagues by providing expertise in leadership, assessment, scaffolded instruction and research based best practices.
- Oversees the district’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to ensure consistent academic, behavioral, and social-emotional intervention plans.
- Researches and leads teams through the curriculum adoption process that align with Michigan Standards, including staff training, resource allocation and progress monitoring.
- Provides leadership in the areas of state and local assessments and school district improvement to ensure accuracy, timely reporting and compliance with local, state regulations.
- Collaborates with building and district teams to analyze student data and guide instructional planning and intervention plans.
- Oversees the ongoing implementation of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to ensure collaborative, data-driven instruction.
- Supervises and evaluates instructional coaches, reading and math interventionists, and the K-12 Assessment Coordinator.
- Oversees all early childhood programs, including GSRP and the Rainbow Early Childhood Center Daycare ensuring compliance with MiLEAP and LARA licensing regulations.
- Completes GSRP budget in collaboration with the business office, ensuring compliance with MiLEAP regulations.
- Manages all state and federal grant programs, including the Regional Assistant Grant, Titles I, II, III, and IV, 31a, 35n, and 35j and 41a.
- Prepare budgets, narratives, reports, and documentation in NexSys to ensure fiscal and programmatic compliance.
- Oversee grant audits, monitoring, and reporting to ensure transparency and compliance.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of K-12 Assessment, Curriculum, MiCIP, MTSS, and the Michigan Continuous Improvement Framework
- Demonstrated competence managing state and federal grant budgets in NexSys.
- Deep understanding of early childhood education and compliance with LARA licensing.
- Demonstrated experience in the administration or oversight of the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP).
- Proven experience planning, delivering, and implementing K-12 professional development
- Experience presenting to a wide variety of stakeholders, including the Board of Education.
Education, Experience and/or Certifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Educational Leadership or Curriculum and Instruction
- Valid Michigan Teacher and Administrative Certification
- Central Office certification preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of successful experience in K–12 education, including documented leadership in curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Alternatives as the Superintendent may deem appropriate or acceptable.

Salary
- $107,030 – $152,382 based on education and experience as part of the Clintondale Central Office Administrators collective bargaining agreement, Teamsters Local Union No. 214.
