Help Desk Technician | Walker, MI

Salary Range: $49,000 - $76,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first-line technical support for IT hardware, software, and network issues across office and shop floor environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with manufacturing-specific systems, including HMI, barcode scanners, and production line workstations.
• Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, and peripherals for new and existing employees.
• Respond to and resolve service requests and incidents promptly, documenting all actions in the ticketing system.
• Assist with basic network connectivity issues for production equipment and ensure reliable operation of shop floor IT infrastructure.
• Escalate complex or unresolved issues to senior IT staff or specialized operational technology (OT) teams as required.
• Conduct routine checks and preventative maintenance on critical IT assets to minimize downtime in production.

Recommended Qualifications

• Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware (PCs, printers, industrial devices) and software (Windows OS, MS Office, ERP/MES).
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, capable of supporting users in a fast-paced production environment.
• Proficiency with IT ticketing systems and remote support tools.
• Basic understanding of network infrastructure and connectivity issues.
• Experience supporting manufacturing-specific hardware (e.g., barcode scanners, label printers, shop floor terminals).
• Ability to prioritize and resolve critical issues quickly to minimize production downtime.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience supporting manufacturing-specific software (e.g., MES, ERP systems, quality management software).
• Familiarity with Operational Technology (OT) environments or industrial control systems (ICS).
• Prior experience working in a manufacturing or industrial setting, adhering to safety protocols.
• Experience with specialized industrial hardware such as barcode scanners, label printers, or ruggedized PCs.
