Young Disciples Ministry Assistant
Part-Time (15 hours/week)
Georgetown United Methodist Church – Jenison, MI
Georgetown United Methodist Church seeks a Young Disciples Ministry Assistant to support a Christ-centered, Wesleyan ministry for children and youth (ages 3 through 12th grade). This position partners with the Director of Young Disciples Ministries to nurture faith development, build relationships, and implement programming aligned with the mission of the local church and the United Methodist Church.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with children’s and youth ministry programming, including Sunday School, EDGE (4th–6th grade), youth events, and Confirmation (every other year).
- Support curriculum implementation grounded in Scripture, discipleship, and United Methodist theology
- Help recruit, train, and support volunteers in compliance with Child Protection policies
- Build caring, pastoral relationships with children, youth, and families
- Assist with communication, record-keeping, and conference reporting as needed
- Participate in ministry team meetings and collaborate with church staff
Qualifications
- Active Christian faith and commitment to nurturing disciples of Jesus Christ
- Experience working with children and/or youth (volunteer or professional)
- Strong relational, communication, and teamwork skills
- Willingness to uphold the UMC belief and practice, Child Protection policies, and expectations of a connectional and ecumenical church Availability on Sunday mornings and occasional evenings weekends
