Responsibilities:
- Responsible in assisting with the development of a North America telematics system by leading the wireless/network validation efforts, conducting studies/clinics, evaluating competitive systems, writing specifications, troubleshooting and verifying/validating the vehicle sub-system interactions.
- Create test plan/cases, conduct bench and field validation, track production and development progress, and conduct end to end validation of the Telematics functionalities & architectures based upon Test Development Plans (TDP's). Inclusive in this endeavor is the ability to create and modify existing TDP's related to the components & system, so as to improve the validation efficiency.
- Participate in and provide assistance in support of all quality gate activities prior to the launch of the project for a given vehicle platform. Assist with the evaluation of field/customer concerns after system launch & drive resolution to maintain or improve customer expectations.
- Develop, support, and execute plans to validate Over the Air (OTA) SW updates. Troubleshoot and work with suppliers/stakeholders to seek solutions for encountered issues
- Develop field/drive test routes and plans to verify telematics units in different network technologies (e.g. 3G, LTE) and conditions (Good/poor coverage, roaming, etc.).
- Analyze modem/network issues using logging tools (e.g. QXDM, Wireshark, etc.) and work with all stakeholders (modem suppliers, network/server providers, etc.) to identify root cause and solutions.
- Build and maintain active relations with device suppliers and network providers to seek solutions for emerging issues in order to enhance product quality.
- Support the validation of off-board applications (Smartphone or server based).
- Lead/support the processes of building and maintaining the telematics lab.
- Provide progress reports during entire product development process.
- Perform additional projects and tasks as assigned to support the overall mission, vision and a goals.
- Remain current with new technology and competitive products.
- Travel up to 15% of time domestically and internationally.
Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Telecommunications.
- Experience with vehicle product development process (concept to launch).
- Up to 1 year experience with wireless network, Telematics systems, and vehicle sub-systems.
- Experience working of cellular technology LTE, etc.
- Experience with validation and logging/simulation tools, such as CMW500, QXDM, CAN analyzer, etc.
- Experience with developing, completing and evaluating FMEA's and DV/PV plans.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire.
- Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
