Opportunity: Morgan Foods, Inc., a premier manufacturer of soups, beans, gravy, and broths, is seeking a Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator to support its manufacturing operations in Saline, Michigan. The EHS Coordinator is responsible for coordinating environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization. This position partners with leaders and employees to implement safety initiatives, conduct training, perform audits and inspections, investigate incidents, and identify opportunities to reduce workplace risks. The EHS Coordinator plays a key role in maintaining a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment while supporting the organization's operational and continuous improvement objectives.

his role leads the coordination and implementation of environmental, health, and safety programs across the organization; establishes EHS priorities and performance expectations; manages safety initiatives, training, compliance activities, and related budgets; and ensures compliance with company policies and applicable environmental, safety, quality, food safety, SQF, OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements. The position serves as the organization's subject matter expert for environmental, health, and safety matters and partners with Operations, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and other functions to achieve compliance objectives, reduce risk, and drive continuous improvement. This role also requires flexibility to work across facilities and shifts; travel between company locations; and respond to workplace incidents, regulatory matters, and operational needs outside normal 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday working hours.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes and rules as it applies to worker and environmental safety.
  • Manage all reporting to EPA, OSHA, Washtenaw County, Saline, EGLE and other outside agencies
  • Participate in new hire orientation as it relates to safety and environmental policies.
  • Submit recommendations for improvement and additions to the safety management program including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management
  • Lead safety investigations relating to recordables and near misses
  • Lead ASP’s safety team and conduct monthly audits
  • Promote safe working environment
  • Maintain organizations training records for worker safety training
  • Manage company uniform program (shirts/pants/boots/inventory)
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills / Abilities

  • Excellent Leadership Skills
  • Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to conduct training
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Ability to travel thought the facility as required to conduct safety audits
  • Able to train on skills such as confined space entry
  • Ability to sit at a desk for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time

Required Education & Experience

  • College education preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of safety training and/or experience required
  • OSHA Training Preferred (willing to train / pay for 30 hour)
  • Certified Stormwater Operator (CSWO) (willing to train)
  • Advanced training or certification in safety preferred
