Site Leader
The Site Leader is responsible for the daily operation, safety, and performance of an Original Composites and Fiber manufacturing and shipping site supporting primarily automotive customers. This role is highly hands‑on and combines production support, shipping, logistics, people leadership, safety, and administrative responsibilities. The Site Leader works alongside the hourly team daily and serves as the primary point of contact for operations, HR, customers, and support functions. Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Own site safety and quality performance and compliance.
- Lead regular safety and quality audits, observations, and reviews.
- Ensure adherence to company, regulatory, customer, safety, and quality requirements.
- Address hazards, quality issues, or audit findings promptly and escalate as appropriate.
- Lead and support a team of 4 hourly employees, providing clear direction, coaching, and accountability.
- Address employee relations issues, in partnership with HR, including attendance, performance, and conduct.
- Serve as the on‑site HR point of contact for the location.
- Conduct in‑person safety talks, shift communication, and team check‑ins.
- Lead interviewing and hiring for hourly and contract roles.
- Partner with HR on candidate selection, onboarding, and training.
- Ensure adequate staffing coverage to support shipment schedules and operations.
- Oversee day-to-day plant operations
- Operate a hilo/forklift as needed, including material movement, loading, and staging.
- Load outbound trucks daily and ensure on‑time, accurate shipments
- Prepare and manage UPS shipments and shipping labels.
- Manage returnable shipping containers, including tracking, coordination, and reconciliation.
- Support daily filling/packaging operations as needed.
- Create purchase orders (POs) and manage site‑level purchasing.
- Invoice customers for:
- Spare parts
- Machine leases
- Miscellaneous charges
- Work in SAP to:
- Create new part numbers
- Set up empty bag part numbers
- Support basic production and inventory transactions
- Prepare and submit a weekly production and performance report every Monday.
- Track basic production, shipment, and operational metrics.
- Communicate issues, risks, and improvement opportunities to leadership.
- Oversee basic equipment, site, and facility maintenance.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance activities with vendors or internal resources.
- Ensure the site remains clean, organized, and production‑ready.
- Prior experience in manufacturing leadership
- Forklift (hilo) experience required; must be able to operate daily.
- Working knowledge of shipping, logistics, and customer shipments, preferably automotive.
- Experience handling employee issues, hiring, and safety leadership.
- Comfortable performing hands‑on work in a production and warehouse environment.
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Ability to operate a forklift and work on the production floor daily.
- Ability to lift, stand, and move throughout the facility as required.
- Work schedule aligned with shipment days, with flexibility as business needs require.
