Employment Type: Contract-to-Direct
Contract Length: Minimum 6 months | Conversion based on performance
Shift: 1st Shift | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM | Monday–Friday
Overtime: Available and sometimes required
A day in the life
As production ramps up, you’ll move from blueprint to bench seamlessly—setting up mills, dialing in a surface grinder, and turning precise components on the lathe. You’ll validate dimensions with micrometers and gauges, troubleshoot a stubborn die, and add a quick MIG or ARC weld to restore a critical edge. By afternoon, a crane lift positions a tool set you’ve just rebuilt, and your work helps the line hit its quality targets.
Role overview
Own the build, repair, modification, and upkeep of complex tooling in a high-quality manufacturing setting. Interpret GD&T, uphold safety and quality, and be the go-to problem solver for production support.
Core responsibilities
- Construct, repair, and modify production tools and fixtures
- Read and interpret blueprints with GD&T
- Set up and run mills, lathes, and surface grinders
- Verify tolerances using micrometers, calipers, and gauges
- Troubleshoot tooling performance and assist production teams
- Perform MIG and ARC welding when needed
- Operate overhead cranes and powered industrial trucks
- Maintain rigorous safety and quality standards
What you bring
- Toolmaker certification or equivalent mastery
- 8+ years in a toolroom or machine shop environment
- Expert blueprint reading and solid shop math
- Hands-on experience with mills, lathes, and surface grinders
- Welding background preferred
- Stable work history strongly preferred
