Driver - Part Time

The Adrian Dominican Sisters are seeking a part time Driver for their transportation department on the Motherhouse campus in Adrian, MI.

What you will be doing : The Driver provides transportation services and general vehicle maintenance for Sisters and visitors utilizing our campus owned passenger cars , accessibility equipped passenger vans , and an accessibility equipped shuttle buses . The position is part time working variable hours and workdays , consisting of days, evening and weekend hours. Trips may vary in distance (not to exceed 150 miles one way) and time commitments, must drive at night and/or in inclement weather.

Hours : 5-15 hours per week. Must have open availability and flexibility. Schedule comes out Friday for the following week.

Pay : 15.70/hr.

Responsibilities include :

• Drives Sisters to their appointments as scheduled.
• Responsible for removing snow and ice from fleet vehicles and surrounding areas.
• Wash and vacuum fleet vehicles.
• Monitor all vehicle fluid levels and tire pressure and fill as needed.
• Provides assistance and transportation for Sisters needing van transporting.
• Provides transportation to/from airports, bus stations and train depots.
• Monitor fleet vehicles for damage and maintenance needs and report issues to supervisor.
• Acts as a back up to Shuttle Bus Driver for transporting Sisters and bus safety checks.
• Responds appropriately to safety hazards and/or emergencies following written campus procedures. Complies with all safety policies and procedures by practicing good safety and health habits while performing duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications/Requirements :

Education: A High School diploma is required.

Experience: Previous chauffeur experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Valid Chauffeur's license and a good driving record required.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Mus be proficient in the use of computers and have ability to learn new programs.
• Ability to read a map and follow directions.
• Ability to assist a disabled person to move in and out of vehicles.
• Ability to drive the passenger van.
• Ability to carry and anchor wheelchairs for van transport with up to 350 pound residents.
• Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend, reach and walk up to 8 hours a day.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and push up to 350 pounds.
• Annual influenza vaccination is required for this position.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Variable hours and workdays; some late nights, early mornings and weekends.
• Trips may vary in distance and time commitments.
• At times, has to lift wheelchairs, assist sisters in getting in/out of car, lifting and carrying luggage, be outside in inclement weather to clear snow/ice off vehicles and surrounding areas, must drive at night and/or in inclement weather.
