Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Dayton, Ohio (45409) – Ohio healthcare jobs
• Facility: Advanced Cardiac Stepdown / Telemetry Unit
• Assignment Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Nursing
• Assignment Length: 20 weeks (13-week contracts accepted)
• Start Date: October 6, 2025
• End Date: February 23, 2026
• Shift: Night shifts, 4x12-hour (19:00 - 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1950-$2000
• Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
• Scrubs: Navy Blue
• Flu Vaccine: Required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required
• Floating: May float to nearby campuses (Centerville, Englewood)
• Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Required (every other weekend/holiday)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license in any state (compact nursing license accepted)
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent cardiac stepdown or progressive care unit (SD/PCU) experience (ICU experience not accepted)
• Experience with patient ratios of 1:5 in SD/PCU settings
• EPIC charting experience required
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Proficient in IV start and management
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Must pass online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to start
• Available for N95 mask or PAPR fitting prior to working on HRRU unit
• Must be able to work every other weekend/holiday
• No past license action accepted

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients, including those with heart failure, chest pain, NSTEMI, post-procedure, COPD exacerbation, drug/ETOH overdose and withdrawal, arrhythmias, and sepsis
• Competently run and titrate IV drips (heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, cardizem, insulin, cardene, etc.)
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias
• Start and maintain IVs
• Care for feeding tubes and chest tubes
• Utilize rapid response/code teams as needed
• Float to other units as assigned, supporting healthcare teams across campuses
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, social services, etc.)
• Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC electronic health records
• Participate in orientation and complete required training modules
