Front Office Staff/Pre-Tester For Optometry Office

East Lansing Family Eyecare in East Lansing, MI is looking for a full-time Front office staff/Pretester to join our team. We are located at 1905 Abbot Road. Our ideal candidate is friendly, attentive, ambitious, and hard-working. Workdays are Monday-Friday, no weekends! Responsibilities and Tasks .

1. Help with the daily patient check-in process.
2. Help with daily patient insurance eligibility research.
3. Help verify appointments set online by patients.
4. Primary role: Explain testing procedures and collect information using automated equipment; including an auto-refractor/keratometer, auto-tonometer, retinal camera, visual field machine, and an optical coherence tomographer.
5. Explain additional testing that is available.
6. Transfer data and add notes in patients’ charts using proper grammar. Help direct patients to the exam rooms or back to the waiting room.
7. Assist with end-of-day deposit report.
8. Help scan patient charts into a database, when needed.
9. Help keep the waiting room and eyewear dispensary area tidy.

Qualifications

1. Excellent communicator. Very comfortable when talking with others.
2. Moderate to high computer and keyboard skills in Windows environment.
3. Customer service; works well with the public and can handle criticism, at times, from others.
4. Forward thinker; can anticipate the needs of staff, doctors and patient care.
5. Strong in multi-tasking with ease.
6. Strong comprehension, math and problem-solving skills. Great attention to detail and well organized.
7. Accurate data entry. Ability to convert verbal or written information into numerical data.
8. Team player, must work well with others in an office environment.
9. Reliable transportation.
