Position Summary:
The Assistant Director Web Master will lead the District website, District web content managers, training, guidelines and accessibilities and implementation efforts. This role involves maintaining and enhancing the CMS, ensuring seamless functionality and user experience. The ideal candidate will support the web content management program by building and organizing web pages for various schools and departments, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and optimal performance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, Information Technology, or a related field.OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in web development and CMS management, preferably in an educational or similar setting.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other web development languages. Experience with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal).
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1) and legal requirements (e.g., Section 508, ADA).
- Familiarity with web analytics tools and website performance monitoring. Understanding of website security best practices.
Soft Skills:
- Strong organizational and project management skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Ability to provide technical support and training to staff. Other Requirements:
- Ability to stay updated on emerging web development trends and regulatory updates. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and functionality.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain and update the district's CMS, ensuring content accuracy, functionality, and currency across all school and department websites.
- Develop, test, and deploy new web pages, layouts, and features to support the district's communication and engagement goals.
- Collaborate with school sites, departments, and leadership to organize and structure content for clarity, consistency, and usability.
- Ensure compliance with web accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1) and legal requirements (e.g., Section 508, ADA), including proper formatting of digital documents and media.
- Monitor website performance and analytics; identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to website speed, navigation, broken links, or content errors.
- Implement and maintain website security best practices, including regular updates to software, themes, and plugins.
- Provide technical support and training to district staff on CMS use, accessibility guidelines, and content publishing standards.
- Stay informed on emerging web development trends, tools, and regulatory updates to continuously improve the user experience and ensure compliance.
- Manage and train District Web Content Managers. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
