Associate Pastor of Ministries

Clinton, MI

The Associate Pastor of Ministries at First Baptist Church Marianna serves as a key member of the pastoral team, providing leadership and oversight to the church’s ministry operations. This full-time role focuses on developing leaders, equipping ministry teams, coordinating church-wide ministries, and supporting the Senior Pastor through occasional preaching and pastoral responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Ministry Coordination

  • Provide oversight and support to the leaders of age-graded, discipleship, and support ministries (e.g., children, youth, adult education, missions, etc.).
  • Ensure that ministries are aligned with the church’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Serve as the point person for calendar coordination and ministry planning across departments.

2. Leadership Development

  • Identify, recruit, equip, and encourage volunteer leaders within all church ministries.
  • Provide training opportunities and resources for leaders to grow in their spiritual and practical ministry effectiveness.
  • Foster a culture of servant leadership and shared responsibility across the church.

3. Preaching & Teaching

  • Preach in the main worship services periodically (as scheduled by the Senior Pastor).
  • Teach in small group or discipleship settings as needed to support the church’s spiritual growth strategy.

4. Pastoral Support

  • Collaborate with the Senior Pastor and other staff in shepherding the church body.
  • Assist with pastoral care, counseling, and visitation as needed.
  • Participate in church-wide events, worship planning, and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • A growing and mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Agreement with the Baptist Faith & Message (2000).
  • Bachelor’s degree required; seminary degree (or pursuit of one) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant ministry leadership experience.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, develop leaders, and manage ministry systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Accountability

  • Reports directly to the Senior Pastor.
  • Works collaboratively with staff, ministry leaders, and lay volunteers.

Compensation and Benefits

  • This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
