Director of Maintenance/Buildings & Grounds, Job Description

Position Type: Exempt, Full-Time

St. John Vianney Parish is seeking a Director of Maintenance/Buildings & Grounds committed to maintaining the operating excellence of all parish buildings and grounds to ensure all parishioners, staff members and visitors have a safe, clean and smooth functioning physical plant environment.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Performing and overseeing the routine maintenance and general repairs of all parish buildings and grounds in the following areas: heating and cooling systems, semi-skilled carpentry, plumbing, upkeep outdoor equipment, etc.
• Ensuring preventative maintenance, safety and energy conservation inspections are performed on all parish buildings and grounds.
• Ordering and purchasing of cleaning supplies, paper products, and building supplies/ materials as needed with adequate inventory maintained at all times.
• Monitoring parish wide calendar of events and supporting accommodation requests including the set-up/take down of the rooms/areas as requested by staff members and volunteers.
• Communicating maintenance and repair issues to the Mission Support Director.
• Preparing cost estimates and gathering bids for major repairs and contracted services.
• Supervising one or more maintenance employees as well as outside contractors.
• Coordinating work assignments for all maintenance workers (both paid and volunteers).
• Preparing the annual maintenance budget and monitoring expenditures during the year to the approved budget.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree preferred in a related field. Certification in carpentry, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing is preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in maintenance/buildings management of a commercial facility. Administrative and supervisory experience is preferred.
• High energy, conscientious, self-starter who is dependable, honest and reliable.
• Team player with cooperative, friendly demeanor who works well with individuals having a wide range of personalities and abilities.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Must obtain Protecting God’s Children certification.
