Dryden High School is hiring a counselor for the 2026-2027 school year.
POSITION: School Counselor (Grades 7–12)
LOCATION: Dryden High School

DESCRIPTION OF THE DISTRICT:
Dryden Community Schools is a small, rural district located in Lapeer County, serving approximately 500 students across two buildings. Known for its strong relationships and personalized approach, Dryden operates under the belief of “Small-Town Attention with a World-Class Education.”
Dryden Junior/Senior High School serves students in grades 7–12 and offers a wide range of opportunities, including Advanced Placement coursework, dual enrollment, and the Dryden Early College Academy, where students can earn an associate degree while in high school. The district maintains strong partnerships with local colleges and emphasizes academic achievement, career readiness, and social-emotional support for all students.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in School Counseling or related field
- Valid Michigan School Counselor License or NT endorsement through the Michigan Department of Education
- Demonstrated knowledge of secondary school counseling programs, including academic planning, career readiness, and social-emotional support
- Experience with scheduling, state testing coordination, and student data systems preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with student academic, career, and social-emotional needs for grades 7–12
- Provide individual and small group counseling to support student well-being, goal setting, and problem-solving
- Assist students with course selection, four-year planning, and post-secondary pathways, including college, skilled trades, military, and workforce options
- Support and coordinate dual enrollment and Early College programming, including student eligibility, progress monitoring, and communication with partner institutions
- Collaborate with teachers, administration, and families to support student success and remove barriers to learning
- Monitor student progress, attendance, and behavior, and implement appropriate interventions
- Assist with the development and maintenance of the master schedule in collaboration with administration
- Coordinate and support state and local assessments as needed
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with state and federal requirements
- Provide post-secondary planning support, including college applications, FAFSA completion, scholarships, and career exploration activities
- Serve as a liaison between school, home, and community agencies to connect students and families with needed resources
- Participate in threat assessment processes, student support teams, and school improvement initiatives
- Support transition planning for students entering and exiting the junior/senior high school program
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal
