Position Summary

The College & Career Program Coordinator is responsible for working with Girls Group high school juniors, seniors, and graduates 1-6 years post-high school who are on their college and career journeys. This position is primarily responsible for:

  • College & career mentoring support for cohorts of individual participants
  • Facilitating skill building workshops and weekly group meetings
  • Supporting the Girls Group scholarship process
  • Supporting annual celebrations, graduations, and leadership opportunities

This position will establish and maintain positive long-term relationships with college & career participants to help them find their voice, define their goals and dreams, and move forward in the world with pride and self-confidence. The College & Career Program Coordinator will work collaboratively with high schools, higher education institutions, and community partners to establish a vibrant community of support for participants.

Position Responsibilities

1) Coordinate All Aspects of Assigned Program

  • Provide individual mentoring support to cohorts of participants (high school juniors, seniors, and recent high school graduates) in alignment with the Girls Group standards, including assessment, person-centered planning, referrals, advocacy, post-secondary planning, and college and career advising
  • Meet caseload targets for participant engagement and retention through ongoing monitoring and implementing intervention strategies
  • Maintain and update participant information related to their individual goals, complete daily progress notes, and track participant attendance/engagement daily
  • Develop and facilitate group programming sessions, workshops, drop-in mentoring, school lunchroom mentoring and special events focused on skills needed for college and career in alignment with Girls Group program standards and curriculum
  • Coordinate group programming session meal, purchasing and organization of session supplies, and transportation support to Girls Group programs and special events
  • Maintain key stakeholder relationships with high schools, colleges, universities, and community liaisons

2) Administrative Duties

  • Adhere to programming procedures, including tracking and maintaining program attendance, participant enrollment documents, and case notes
  • Actively participate in agency staff meetings, program meetings, and reflective supervision meetings on a weekly basis
  • Daily email communications, phone calls, and paperwork
  • Track company debit card transactions and maintain accurate program budgets
  • Participate in planning, set-up, and coordination of agency wide special events
  • Participate in community outreach and awareness, contribute to the agency newsletter, and promote agency fundraising activities

3) Lead Teams of Interns, Specialists, and Volunteers

  • Provide coaching to teams of undergraduate and graduate student interns, program specialists, and volunteers
  • Guide and support team member development of skills, provide accountability, document progress, and communicate with supervisors
  • Develop positive team dynamics by leading weekly team meetings
  • Facilitate training sessions on special topics during the biannual mentor onboarding process for new cohorts and select intern-staff meetings
  • As needed, collaborate with interns on special projects, participate in site visits, and provide ongoing feedback to team members in programming spaces

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Child Development & Family Studies, Education, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, or a closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and professional experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience working directly with middle school, high school, and/or post-secondary students in a mentoring, advising, or case management capacity.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting youth with college planning logistics, including navigating financial aid (FAFSA), college applications, scholarships, standardized testing, and academic advising.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

  • Knowledge of graduation requirements, higher education, counseling and career advising
  • Comfortable planning and facilitating group programming sessions
  • Ability to provide support for students who may be experiencing crisis

  • Demonstrate and model professionalism in demeanor, dress, and communication as a role model to peers and youth

Position Title: College & Career Program Coordinator

Reports to: Program Manager

Hours & Schedule: Full time exempt, hours needed to accomplish this job will vary and may involve some evenings and occasionally weekends (option to flex time), position requires work to be done in-person and on-site at partner schools and in the field

Salary: Starting pay of $54,000. Salary commensurate with experience and education

  • Adherence to Girls Group Policies and Confidentiality requirements
  • Timely response to email and phone requests from all staff members of Girls Group
  • Track and submit all expenses and mileage on a monthly basis

Pay: From $54,000.00 per year
