The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounts payable functions, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company policies. This role involves processing invoices, reconciling statements, and supporting month-end closing activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment while collaborating with internal teams and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Process invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure proper documentation and approvals before payment.
- Reconcile vendor statements and address any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist with month-end closing activities, including preparing reports and reconciling accounts.
- Respond to inquiries from vendors, agency operators, and internal departments regarding payments and account coding.
- Support cash disbursement processes, including ACH payments and check distribution.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all AP transactions.
- Assist in troubleshooting system issues and implementing process improvements.
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Key Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in accounts payable or a related field.
- Strong understanding of AP processes, general ledger coding, and accrual accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel.
- Experience with accounting software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
