Resident Caregiver (Kalamazoo)

Job functions include :

In this role you will provide personal assistance with daily living activities. Foster a safe, supportive, and comforting environment, and offer emotional and social support that enriches the lives of our residents.

We are seeking someone who is dependable, compassionate, and ready to serve with excellence to:

• Provide personal care to residents including bathing, oral hygiene, hair grooming, skin and nail care, toileting, dressing and undressing, and shaving
• Answer call lights to determine and meet resident needs
• Transport/transfer residents using wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and stand-by assist
• Assist and encourage residents in keeping their rooms clean and orderly, providing a comfortable living environment
• Change bed linens and make beds
• Monitor residents and reports any changes in skin condition, appetite, behavior, emotional needs, etc.
• Assist with meals and collects food trays from residents’ rooms
• Is aware of resident’s needs and responds quickly, appropriately, and with compassionate and appropriate support
• Respond rapidly and appropriately to emergencies while maintaining resident and co-worker safety at all times

Work Schedules :

This position requires availability to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Full-time and Part-time shifts available.

Job Requirements include :

• Adheres to HIPPA regulations at all times, including not discussing residents’ circumstances with other departments or non-authorized individuals and maintains confidentiality at all times
• Maintains clean work area and helps support a clean and comfortable environment for all residents and staff
• Uses safe and appropriate body mechanics when lifting and/or transferring residents
• Follows all infectious control protocol and policies
• Completes daily charting and paperwork as required in a timely manner
• Consistently demonstrates a positive and compassionate attitude toward residents, co-workers, families, and the public.

Physical Requirements :

• Lift, push/pull up to 100lbs while assisting residents
• Lift and carry items up to 15lbs, including basins, resident care items, charts, thermometers, etc.
• Stand and/or walk up to 90% of an eight (8) hour shift.
