Landscape Maintenance Crew Lead

Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and motivate crew members during daily grounds maintenance and landscaping tasks.
• Assign work based on skill level, equipment availability, and daily priorities.
• Ensure all safety protocols and proper equipment usage are followed by the crew.
• Enforce company and OSHA safety standards, including PPE, equipment handling, and vehicle safety.
• Maintain a professional appearance by ensuring crew uniforms are clean and well maintained.
• Support snow and ice management activities during the winter season as assigned.
• Perform and oversee tasks such as weed pulling, trimming, edging, blowing, pruning, landscape installation, and general debris clean-up.
• Operate commercial-grade equipment safely and efficiently; train team members on equipment use and assist with basic maintenance.
• Ensure proper operation, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment, trailers, vehicles, and tools.
• Inspect job sites before and after work to ensure high-quality standards are met.
• Communicate with managers or clients regarding special instructions or issues, and address on-site challenges professionally.
• Track crew hours, materials used, and job completion details; maintain accurate records and report progress to supervisors.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in lawn care, landscaping, or grounds maintenance.
• Leadership experience or strong ability to guide a small crew.
• Knowledge of lawn care best practices, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
• Valid driver’s license with ability to obtain a chauffeur license.
• Applicator License: Core, 3A, 3B, 6 (or willingness to obtain).
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment with physical labor, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Ability to operate loud machinery and work in varying weather conditions, including sun, heat, cold, and rain.
• Willingness to work early mornings, overtime, weekends, and adapt to seasonal variations as needed.
