Controls Technician

Shift: 2nd and 3rd shift

Location: Whitehall, MI

Pay: $30/hour - $40/hour based on experience

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:

Repair and maintenance work on electronic control equipment and apparatus as associated with automated assembly systems.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Associates degree in electronics technology preferred and/or 2-5 years experience in the following: Basic electricity, industrial controls, micro processors, programming/logic, electrical circuit troubleshooting, trigonometry, electrical schematics, ladder logic, AC/DC circuits, solid state devices, electronic system trouble shooting, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, mechanical aptitude, and motion controllers. Associate must be experienced and trained with Hilite’s environmental aspects and impacts for the jobs they perform.

PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Works closely with: electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, maintenance manager, maintenance supervisor, mechanical technicians, tool room, stock cage coordinator, and manufacturing assistant.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Perform repair and maintenance to equipment/robotics utilizing PLC interfaces.

2. Participate in the development, design, and problem solving discussions relating to present and future test and assembly equipment installations.

3. Observe machine operations to determine the nature of operating problem.

4. Use of appropriate test instruments to diagnose and locate reason for process issue/malfunction and make needed repairs.

5. Replace, adjust, and calibrate components to bring assembly operations back into operating requirements.

6. Maintain an electrical/electronic “library” of resource material to support component and equipment procurement and expanding test parameter development.

7. Use computers and software for testing, collecting, analysis, and storage of product test and assembly data.

8. Repair and ensure calibration of testing and assembly equipment including power supplies, computers, PLCs, function generators, counters, X-Y recorders.

9. Initiate procurement, calibration, maintenance and/or replacement of test instrumentation and equipment to insure hardware in use is functioning optimally, and backups defined are in place and functional to maintain test and assembly systems as required to meet Hilite and customer requirements.

10. Maintain the product build and testing areas to insure the lowest possible level of contaminants exist in a clean and presentable environment.

11. Perform other related responsibilities as may be assigned or required.
