Special Education Resource Room Teacher - Middle School

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the principal and the special education supervisor, the teacher will be working with middle school special education students to achieve excellence.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum of BS/BA degree in Education
- Possess or be eligible for a valid Michigan teaching certificate as a high school teacher with endorsements in Special Education
- Meet all the requirements as a highly qualified teacher
- Able to assess and document student progress
- Professional in personal conduct and actions
- Excellent communication skills
- Meets federal Every Student Succeeds Act requirement
Desired Characteristics:
- Experience in working with middle school students
- Experience using technology as an instructional tool in the classroom
- Experience and interest in collaborating with and co-teaching with general education math and ELA teachers
- Experience in working within a Professional Learning Community using data to drive instruction
- Experience in collaborating in writing common assessments
- Knowledge in Microsoft, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of Google and G Suite applications
- Successful teaching of special education students
Duties:
- Provide instruction to middle school students
- Provide and maintain an orderly classroom environment
- Monitor and document student progress through Power School IEP program
- Work independently and cooperatively using a variety of instructional strategies
- Ability to plan and organize; excellent work habits
- Willing to attend conferences and participate in professional development
- Perform other duties as assigned by Administration
