Keystone Powdered Metal Company, a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a full-time Automotive Accounts Manager employee who will be working out of our Farmington Hills, MI location. This person will report to the VP of Sales and Marketing.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The automotive accounts manager role delivers external facing sales coordination with assigned customers according to Keystone Powder Metal strategic plan, and ensures timely communication and delivery of all aspects of customer accounts, ensuring health and vitality of business impact for current and new prospective customers. This role comprises the following core responsibilities:
To develop and manage the assigned customers and identify and pursue new prospects within North America, and specifically within the automotive industry.
To assist the Vice President of Sales and Marketing and the cross functional team efforts to develop and to execute the Strategic Sales Plan in support of company goals. This involves defining products and customer target areas for potential business opportunities.
To be proactive in identifying new business opportunities, including new programs or conversions with existing and new customers, and create self-driven leading measures that make individual contributions towards the Strategic Business Plan vitality metric (% new sales). Metrics for success in this role include but not limited to safety performance, IATF and industry standards, Kaizen improvements, customer scorecard ratings, Quote value by market segment, value of newly contracted business, pricing, profitability and response time.
To identify and advance a funnel of potential new customers, which fit with the Corporate Strategic Business Plan, working within and documenting opportunity management details within a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, Quote database, and other forms of Company record.
To help identify product simplification opportunities to help improve Keystone part profitability.
To proactively pursue pricing opportunities on an ongoing basis, at times making recommendations for new pricing actions across the sales team, and helping to synthesize activities for coordination.
To represent Keystone at trade association events, as requested.
To act as an external facing customer account focal point, working internally with cross functional team members to make effective Sales / Technical presentations to key customers and position the company as the top choice for supplier selection.
To operate within the Department Budget.
To collaborate in developing quotations for the customers by providing value proposition, competitive positioning, customer price targets and winning pricing strategy. Frequently defines and communicates competitive and market intelligence insights and data summaries on potential business opportunities with new and existing customers.
To build a robust funnel of customer opportunities, demonstrate disciplined opportunity management, qualification and advancement to find and close new wins.
To monitor market and industry conditions and identify developing opportunities and/or threats that could impact the company in a positive or a negative manner.
To be an exemplar for proactive safety and EHS (environmental health and safety) behaviors and continuous improvements, maintaining current resolution of customer sustainability matrix for all assigned customers
To demonstrate proactive Kaizen leadership and improvements impacting cross functional organization workflow processes
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Marketing, Engineering, Management or equivalent
A minimum of 15 years’ experience in Automotive technical sales
Technical knowledge in Powder Metallurgy
Good communication skills
Good analytical & problem-solving skills
Computer skills: Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
Compensation may vary depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, competencies and location. Base pay is one part of the total compensation and benefits package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
