Job Title
Medical Assistant - Dermatology

Job Summary

• Assist physicians and other medical staff by performing administrative and clinical duties, such as preparing treatment rooms for patient exams, recording patient medical history, and cleaning and sterilizing medical equipment.

General Accountabilities

• Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations.
• Cleans treatment rooms following patient examinations.
• Interviews patients to obtain their medical history.
• Records patient medical history, vital statistics, and test results in patient medical files.
• Performs routine screening tests, such as blood pressure checks.
• Purchases and maintains supplies and equipment, including laundry
• Cleans and sterilizes medical equipment and instruments. Properly clean and maintain autoclave and ultrasonic cleaner.
• Properly disposes of contaminated supplies, and interact with medical waste disposal company.
• Assists physicians during examination by handing over instruments and materials.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Assists with surgical procedures
• Clean waiting room and common areas when necessary.
• Prepare local anesthesia and other injectables.
• Maintain a pathology log for biopsies performed with physician and call patient's with biopsy reports/plan after physician review. Document method of patient communication of report.
• Assist with clerical work when feasible as directed by reception staff.
• Work hours are Monday - Friday; 7:15 a.m to 5:30 pm excluding holidays. A monthly schedule with exact days worked will be posted.

Job Qualifications

• Education: Associate's Degree or Trade School required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Experience: 2 years; combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience.
• Certifications and Licenses: certification as a medical assistant (CMA) preferred.
