Raw Material Handler / Pre Weigh Assistant

Raw Material Handler / Pre-Weigh Assistant

Move It. Stage It. Weigh It. Get It Right.

Ever wonder what happens before the ingredients for shampoo, body wash, lotion, beard oil, and other personal-care products ever make it into the mixing tank?

It starts with having the right material, right lot, right quantity, and right setup ready to go.

At Merit Manufacturing, our Pre-Weigh team plays a critical role in making that happen—and we're looking for a dependable Raw Material Handler / Pre-Weigh Assistant who is ready to learn, stay moving, and become an important part of the manufacturing process.

This isn't just a “move boxes from Point A to Point B” job.

You'll retrieve raw materials, verify labels and lot numbers, stage ingredients for upcoming batches, support our Pre-Weigh Specialist, and learn how to accurately scale and weigh ingredients under supervision. As your skills grow, so will your responsibilities.

You don't need years of experience. You do need to be reliable, organized, comfortable with basic math, willing to learn, and serious about getting the details right.

A Little About Us

Merit Manufacturing is a fast-growing contract manufacturer in the personal-care industry.

What does that mean? We help nationwide brands bring their products to life! We manufacture products like:

  • Shampoo
  • Body wash
  • Beard oil
  • Lotions
  • Laundry detergent
  • And plenty of other products you've probably seen—or may already have at home!

In just six years, Merit has experienced tremendous growth, and we're nowhere near finished.

We recently moved into a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility unlike anything our industry has seen. Whether you're working in the warehouse, Pre-Weigh, Compounding, Production, or the lab, you'll be part of a team that is building something exceptional.

Most importantly, we care about the people behind the products .

We want our employees to have opportunities to learn, grow, advance, and build sustainable careers. At Merit, your voice matters, your ideas are valued, and your work makes a difference every day.

What You'll Be Moving, Staging & Learning

  • Retrieve approved raw materials from designated storage areas and safely move them into the Pre-Weigh room.
  • Verify material names, item numbers, lot numbers, quantities, status labels, and expiration/retest dates before materials are moved or used.
  • Stage materials in the correct order and location so Pre-Weigh can operate efficiently.
  • Help open, handle, reseal, label, and return materials while protecting against contamination and mix-ups.
  • Learn how to select the correct scale, tare containers, and accurately weigh ingredients.
  • Support the Pre-Weigh Specialist with material preparation and organization.
  • Complete material movement logs, labels, lot information, quantities, and other required documentation accurately and in real time .
  • Report shortages, damaged containers, labeling issues, expired materials, and inventory discrepancies before materials are used.
  • Keep opened and returned materials properly closed, identified, protected, and stored.
  • Clean and sanitize scales, scoops, utensils, containers, carts, and work areas.
  • Work with Warehouse, Pre-Weigh, Compounding, Production, and Quality to keep materials moving.
  • Speak up immediately when something doesn't look right.

You Might Be Our Perfect Fit If You…

  • Like staying active instead of sitting behind a desk all day.
  • Enjoy organizing things and making sure everything is where it belongs.
  • Notice small details that other people might miss.
  • Are comfortable checking labels, numbers, quantities, and measurements.
  • Can handle basic math, including decimals, fractions, and conversions.
  • Follow instructions without taking shortcuts.
  • Ask questions when you're unsure instead of guessing.
  • Are dependable and show up ready to work.
  • Can accept coaching and use feedback to improve.
  • Understand that accuracy comes before speed .
  • Take safety, cleanliness, and quality seriously.

No Experience? Don't Count Yourself Out!

Previous experience in warehousing, material handling, manufacturing, production, food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, or chemical processing is helpful—but it isn't required for someone who demonstrates strong aptitude and reliability.

We're willing to train the right person.

You'll start by learning material movement, identification, and staging. From there, you'll progress into supervised scaling and weighing, with the opportunity to eventually complete approved Pre-Weigh tasks independently once you've demonstrated competency.

The Golden Rule of Pre-Weigh: Never Guess.

If a material, label, lot number, weight, formula instruction, or scale reading doesn't make sense, STOP AND ASK.

One wrong ingredient can affect an entire batch.

Getting it right matters.

  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently bend, reach, push, pull, climb, and perform repetitive material-handling tasks.
