Staff Accountant
Job Description
Job Description
Salary: $65,000+
You're early in your public accounting career with at least one busy season under your belt, and you're deciding where to build your foundation. At a big firm, you'd spend your first two years on one slice of one workpaper. Here, you'll see whole engagements: business returns, individual returns, the accounting work behind them, and the client conversations that tie it all together.
That breadth is the fastest way to gain the knowledge to become a great accountant.
About the role
- Prepare business and personal tax returns across a varied client base real estate, medical, start-ups, etc.
- Handle general accounting work and balance sheet reconciliations for business clients.
- Sit in on client meetings and see full engagements end-to-end, not just the inputs
- Learn directly from seniors, managers, and partners who review your work and tell you why . We're 30+ people, so mentorship here is a person, not a program.
- Grow into tax research and multi-state work as your skills develop.
Growth Potential
This is a true development role with a visible path: our staff accountants typically advance to senior level within 3-5 years. You'll know what's expected at each step, because we'll map it with you through structured career goal planning.
Flexibility is real
- Hybrid schedule customized to you. Most of our team is in the office 3 days a week outside of tax season, with optional shortened Fridays during the summer months.
- Busy season expectations: You can expect to work an average of 45-50 hours per week.
- Dress for your day. Wear what makes sense for what's on your calendar.
What we're looking for
- 1+ years of public accounting experience
- CPA, EA, or active CPA candidate (we'll help you get there, see the certification bonus below)
- Foundational competency in general accounting; tax preparation experience is required
- Curiosity and a willingness to tackle unfamiliar challenges our best people ask "why."
- A proactive mindset. You flag questions early, follow up without being chased, and don't wait to be told what's next.
Compensation & Benefits
Your compensation is based on the value you bring, and we benchmark to stay ahead of the local market. This role has a minimum starting salary of $65,000, plus a guaranteed tax season bonus.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Disability and life insurance
- 401(k) with employer match
- Paid time off and paid holidays
- Paid CPE and association memberships
- CPA certification bonus
- Firm outings and team events
