Machining Supervisor - Cylinder Manufacturing

We are a leading hydraulic, pneumatic, and custom cylinder manufacturer seeking a Machine Shop Supervisor who is both a process-driven leader and a hands-on technical mentor. In this role, you will oversee a high-mix, made-to-order production environment with a team of machinists and operators, ensuring our customers receive precision parts on time, every time.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and develop a team of 25+ machinists/operators with clear accountability, consistent communication, and strong coaching

• Own daily production scheduling, capacity planning, and labor allocation to meet aggressive customer lead times

• Oversee CNC machining operations, with a focus on HAAS machines and streamlined workflows

• Write and adjust CNC programs directly on the shop floor to support production success (primarily HAAS machines/controls)

• Drive process improvements through data analysis, standard work, and continuous improvement methodology

• Maintain real-time visibility into performance reporting on throughput, downtime, staffing, scrap, and quality metrics

• **Develop and execute a cross-training plan

  ** to expand workforce flexibility and ensure coverage across key machining processes

• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Purchasing, and Quality to resolve bottlenecks

• Ensure adherence to safety, cleanliness, and 5S standards across the department

What You Bring

• 10+ years of experience supervising 25+ direct reports in a machining environment

• Strong CNC programming skills (HAAS required) with the ability to troubleshoot, optimize feeds/speeds, and improve machining processes

• Proven success in scheduling high-mix machining production

• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data-driven decision-making

• Proficient computer literacy - MES/ERP systems experience preferred (Epicor a plus)

• Track record of training, mentoring, and developing machinists into high performers

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment where follow-through is critical
