Spiritual Formation Graduate Assistant

LOCATION: Cornerstone University, Grand Rapids, MI
CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time (Graduate Assistantship), 18 Hours/Week, 9 Months
Start Date: August 2025
SUMMARY
Cornerstone University is seeking a Christ-centered, spiritually mature, and highly motivated Graduate Assistant to serve in the Office of Spiritual Formation and Christian Community. This role is designed for a graduate student with a passion for discipleship, mentoring, and service. The Graduate Assistant will contribute to the spiritual growth of students by launching initiatives, facilitating Bible studies, and offering support to students in their faith journey.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Mentorship Program Development & Management
Launch and maintain a robust mentorship program that connects students with vetted adult Christian mentors.
Facilitate training, communication, and evaluation to ensure healthy mentor-mentee relationships focused on life and faith development.
Men’s Ministry Leadership
Plan, organize, and lead a weekly men's Bible study on campus.
Create a welcoming and engaging environment for spiritual growth and community among male students.
Student Discipleship & Mentorship
Regularly meet with students for one-on-one mentoring and spiritual guidance.
Provide encouragement, accountability, and resources to help students grow in their faith.
Administrative & Event Support
Provide on-site support for Spiritual Formation events and initiatives including, but not limited to chapel, retreats, worship nights, prayer meetings, Global Impact Week, round tables, etc.
Assist with planning, logistics, and follow-up for department programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a ministry related field.
Enrollment in a graduate program at Cornerstone University (or eligibility upon hire)
Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to relate effectively with and minister to students
Demonstrated understanding of the student experience in higher education
Commitment to the principles of spiritual formation in higher education
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple responsibilities.
A heart for student development and community engagement.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and an active Christian commitment.
A theology that supports the values and mission of Cornerstone University evidenced by an ability to affirm and sign the university’s doctrinal statement, “The Cornerstone Confession” and commitment to the university’s Foundational Documents.
