Vice President - Corporate Development

We are seeking a Vice President of Corporate Development to lead mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic investments that advance system growth and innovation while partnering closely with executive leadership to evaluate and execute transformative opportunities.
The Vice President of Corporate Development reporting to Executive Vice-President, Chief Financial Officer and President of Value-based Enterprise, is responsible for leading and executing corporate development activities including merger & acquisitions, joint ventures and other non-physician partnerships that that drive system-wide growth priorities, diversification, transformative partnerships and innovation in healthcare. The VP of Corporate Development works closely with executive leadership, legal, finance, clinical operations, the care delivery system, and external partners to deliver measurable value and support the organization’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partnership Development:
- Identify, evaluate, and cultivate relationships with healthcare organizations, payors, providers, technology firms, investment bankers, and other strategic partners to facilitate enterprise visibility into active and emerging opportunities.
- Lead negotiations for joint ventures, affiliations, mergers & acquisitions, and other collaborative agreements.
- Oversee due diligence, risk assessment, and contract development in partnership with legal and finance teams.
Deal Execution & Integration:- Manage the end-to-end process of business development transactions, from initial engagement through closing and post-deal integration.
- Develops key relationships throughout the organization to allow the rapid assembly of transaction teams and SMEs as needed.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure operational readiness and seamless implementation of new partnerships or ventures
- Monitor performance of partnerships and ventures to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and achievement of desired outcomes.
Strategic Venture Fund Management:- Oversee the organization’s strategic venture fund, including sourcing, evaluating, and recommending investment opportunities aligned with enterprise priorities in collaboration Chief Innovation Officer and VP Treasury & Investments
- Lead investment due diligence, financial modeling, and risk assessment in collaboration with finance, legal, and clinical leaders.
- Manage relationships with portfolio companies, track investment performance, and provide regular reporting to executive leadership and the board.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal governance policies related to venture investments.
- Facilitate post-investment integration and collaboration between portfolio companies and internal stakeholders to maximize strategic value.
Operational Leadership:- Provide direction and oversight to business development staff, fostering professional growth and collaboration.
- Develop and enforce procedural standards for business development activities, including project management, resource allocation, and compliance.
- Serve as a technical resource and advisor to internal stakeholders on complex business development matters.
Governance & Compliance:- Maintain a thorough understanding of applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as organizational policies and ethical standards.
- Ensure all business development activities adhere to regulatory requirements and internal compliance programs.
Executives & Board Support:- Prepare materials and presentations for executive leadership and board committees related to business development initiatives and major transactions.
- Participate in strategic planning sessions and special projects as requested by senior leadership.
- Ensure that relevant members of executive leadership are informed about major issues and participate in key decisions throughout a transaction process.
Metrics and Accountability:- Delivery of measurable outcomes (e.g., ROI, synergies, margin impact, partnership performance).
- Oversight of Corporate Development pipeline reporting to the Executive Team.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, Law, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in healthcare business development, management consulting, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex transactions, including joint ventures, mergers & acquisitions, and partnership agreements.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance, and operational integration.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
