Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the tool room, ensuring efficient workflow and timely delivery of tools and equipment.
• Manage inventory of tools, dies, molds, and fixtures, implementing a robust system for tracking, storage, and replenishment.
• Supervise, train, and mentor tool room personnel, assigning tasks and ensuring adherence to safety procedures and quality standards.
• Maintain and repair tools, dies, molds, and fixtures, coordinating with external vendors for specialized services when necessary.
• Implement and enforce preventative maintenance programs for all tooling and equipment to minimize downtime and extend lifespan.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to understand tooling needs and recommend improvements or new tool designs.
• Ensure the tool room adheres to all safety regulations and maintains a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
• Develop and manage the tool room budget, including procurement of new tools, materials, and equipment.

Recommended Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in tool crib management or a similar inventory control role within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience with inventory management software and ERP systems.
• Strong understanding of tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience, including training and motivating staff.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• - Familiarity with inventory management software and ERP systems.
• - Certification in a relevant trade (e.g., machinist, toolmaker).
