Manufacturing Inspector
Hydroforming Inspector – Body-in-White (BIW) Manufacturing.
Pay: $18–$22 per hour (based on experience).
We are seeking a detail-oriented Inspector to support quality assurance operations within a fast-paced body-in-white (BIW) automotive manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for inspecting hydroformed components and metal fabrications to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, customer standards, and internal quality requirements. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, experience in manufacturing or metal fabrication, and a commitment to accuracy and safety. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections of hydroformed parts and welded assemblies.
- Verify part conformity using blueprints, GD&T, and customer specifications.
- Utilize measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and fixtures.
- Identify, document, and report defects, non-conformances, and quality issues.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.
- Support containment activities and sorting of suspect or non-conforming materials.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve issues.
- Ensure compliance with ISO/IATF standards and internal quality procedures.
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections as required.
- Assist with continuous improvement and corrective action initiatives.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1–3 years of experience in manufacturing inspection, preferably in automotive or metal fabrication.
- Experience working in a hydroforming or body-in-white (BIW) environment strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings (GD&T knowledge preferred).
- Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001 / IATF 16949.
- Strong attention to detail with high accuracy in reporting.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, data entry, quality systems).
- Ability to work in a shop/production floor environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in automotive body structure components (BIW).
- Background in hydroforming, stamping, or metal forming processes.
- Knowledge of weld inspection and surface defect detection.
- Prior experience with quality audits or layered process audits (LPA).
