Controls Engineer
Role: Controls Engineer
Location: Troy, MI
Salary: $80-125k DOE
Position Overview: We are a systems integrator focusing on machines and controls for automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing industries. The Instrumentation and Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems. The position requires experience in PLCs, CAD, AutoCAD, HMI, Allen Bradley, and Siemens software as well as excellent technical writing skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop/modify PLC code and HMI applications
- Create and modify CAD drawings and AutoCAD schematics
- Design, install, and maintain instrumentation and control systems
- Provide technical documentation, instruction manuals, and user guides
- Troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation and control system issues
- Conduct preventative maintenance on instrumentation and control systems
- Visit jobsites including overnight to oversee field contractors and projects
- Maintain subcontractor and vendor relationships
- Work with contractors to install equipment on customer sites
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience designing, building, and programming PLC systems from design to start up
- 5+ years of experience with Ladder logic
- Experience with PLC and HMI including Allen Bradley, Siemens, GE, Wago
- Able to interpret and design Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong customer service and communication skills
