Apprentice Electrician
Job Description
This role offers a hands-on opportunity to learn the electrical trade while working alongside an experienced Journeyman Electrician on commercial and industrial new construction and remodel projects in the Grand Rapids area. You will support electrical installations in environments such as offices, churches, car dealerships, dental offices, and manufacturing facilities, gaining practical experience in conduit work, wiring, and blueprint reading as you build a long-term career in the industry.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with a Journeyman Electrician on commercial and industrial new construction and remodel projects in the Grand Rapids area.
- Assist with installing, routing, and securing electrical conduit in a variety of commercial and industrial settings.
- Pull, run, and terminate electrical wire and cabling for outlets, lighting, and other electrical devices.
- Help install, assemble, and mount outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, and related electrical components according to project specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings under the guidance of a Journeyman to understand layouts and material needs.
- Support troubleshooting and basic problem-solving for electrical systems under supervision.
- Follow all safety procedures and site rules to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and the team.
- Use hand tools and power tools properly to bend conduit, cut and strip wire, and complete other installation tasks.
- Keep work areas organized, clean, and stocked with necessary tools and materials.
- Actively learn and develop skills in the electrical trade through on-the-job training and mentorship.
- Foundational knowledge or training as an apprentice electrician or in a related electrical program.
- Basic understanding of electrical work, including wiring, outlets, and lighting installations.
- Ability to bend and install conduit safely and accurately under supervision.
- Ability to pull, run, and organize wire and cable in commercial and industrial environments.
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings with guidance.
- Comfort working in construction environments, including new builds and remodels.
- Strong attention to safety procedures and willingness to follow established safety protocols.
- Reliability and punctuality to work scheduled hours consistently.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a Journeyman Electrician and broader construction teams.
- Prior hands-on experience in electrical work, construction, or conduit installation is a plus.
- Familiarity with conduit bending techniques and tools is beneficial.
- Experience reading or working from electrical schematics and blueprints is advantageous.
- Willingness to learn and grow in the electrical trade through on-the-job training.
- Ability to travel to job sites within approximately a 60-minute radius of the main operating area as needed.

Work Environment
This is a field-based role centered around commercial and industrial job sites in and around Grand Rapids, typically within about a 60-minute radius of the main operating area. You will work primarily on active construction and remodel sites such as offices, churches, car dealerships, dental offices, and manufacturing buildings. The schedule generally runs from approximately 6:00–7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with full-time hours of about 40 or more per week depending on project needs. The work involves using standard electrical and construction tools, including equipment for conduit bending, wiring, and blueprint reading, in an environment that can be physically demanding and requires adherence to safety standards. The organization maintains a strong, team-oriented culture and may conduct random drug testing throughout the year in support of a safe and reliable workplace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
