Maintenance Manager - Plastic Injection Molding
Job Summary:
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on maintenance experience in a plastic injection molding environment, along with experience leading and developing a maintenance team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate daily maintenance activities across production facilities.
- Supervise, train, coach, and develop maintenance technicians.
- Assign work, monitor completion, and ensure maintenance practices and company policies are consistently followed.
- Manage employee timecards and ensure accurate timekeeping.
- Ensure preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, and facility projects are completed safely and on schedule.
- Maintain and update preventative maintenance schedules in IQMS/DelmiaWorks.
- Manage spare parts inventory and identify replacement components as needed.
- Troubleshoot, repair, install, and program production equipment, including injection molding machines, automation, robots, and PLC-controlled equipment.
- Diagnose equipment failures and identify root causes to reduce recurring downtime.
- Monitor PM effectiveness and maintenance KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain and manage EMS systems for maintenance and facilities.
- Partner with Production, Quality, and Engineering to improve equipment reliability and plant performance.
- Promote a safe working environment and ensure maintenance activities follow safety requirements.
- Support production operations during weekends, overtime, and other periods as needed.
- Travel between the Saline and Warren facilities as required.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree, trade/technical school education, or equivalent experience.
- 4–8 years of hands-on industrial maintenance or machine repair experience.
- 1–3 years of experience leading or supervising a maintenance team.
- Strong experience maintaining plastic injection molding equipment.
- Experience with automation, robotics, and auxiliary equipment.
- Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and industrial controls.
- Injection molding processing or maintenance certification preferred.
- Robotics training or experience is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and complete projects accurately and on time.
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Production, Quality, Engineering, and other departments.
- Must be willing and able to travel between facilities.
- Must be available to work weekends and overtime as needed to support production.
Work Environment:
This is a hands-on manufacturing leadership position requiring significant time on the production floor. The environment may be hot, noisy, and dirty, and the position requires standing, walking, reaching, and bending for extended periods.
