Inspection Technician | Grand Rapids, MI

Salary Range: $41,000 - $64,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products.
• Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMMs to verify specifications.
• Accurately document all inspection results, including acceptance, rejection, and detailed observations.
• Identify and report non-conforming materials or products, initiating appropriate containment and disposition procedures.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and quality control plans to ensure product compliance.
• Conduct first-article inspections, in-process checks, and final product audits.
• Maintain and perform basic calibration checks on inspection tools and equipment.

Recommended Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Associate's degree in a technical field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing quality inspection role.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
• Demonstrated ability to use precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
• Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and quality data analysis software.
• ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT) certification.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
• Proficiency in CMM programming (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso) or CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
