Foundry Equipment Reliability Mechanic
Keep Production Moving: Foundry Equipment Reliability Mechanic
Picture your day starting with a quick handoff from the night shift. A molding line is throwing alarms, a grinder needs new bearings, and the furnace inspection is due before first pour. You grab your tools, review the work orders, and dive in. By midmorning you have a pneumatic issue diagnosed, a shaft swapped, and a core-making machine ready for production again. That is the impact you will have—every single shift.
What You Will Handle
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain production equipment across the foundry: furnaces, molding lines, core-making machines, grinders, conveyors, presses, and automated systems.
- Execute preventative and predictive maintenance plans to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
- Disassemble and rebuild equipment to replace defective parts including bearings, gears, shafts, hydraulic components, and more.
- Fabricate, weld, and machine parts as needed to finish repairs and keep lines running.
- Identify root causes in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems using appropriate test methods and tools.
- Document work orders, repairs, and parts usage with accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with machine upgrades, modifications, and new equipment installations.
- Collaborate closely with production and maintenance teams to schedule and complete work with minimal disruption.
- Follow safety protocols at all times, including lockout tagout and OSHA plus foundry-specific procedures.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance or machine repair is preferred.
- At least 6 years in machine repair or industrial maintenance within a foundry, steel mill, or heavy manufacturing setting, or completion of a recognized journeyman program.
- Solid understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and gear-driven machinery.
- Hands-on welding, machining, and fabrication experience for replacement parts.
- Ability to read and work from blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
- Comfort with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset and problem-solving ability.
- Capability to lift 50 pounds or more and work in hot, dusty, physically demanding conditions.
Where You Will Work
- Active foundry environment with molten metal, high heat, dust, noise, and heavy machinery.
- Personal protective equipment required: steel-toe boots, face shield, respirator, gloves, and protective clothing.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
How We Invest in You
- Competitive hourly pay with overtime opportunities.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- 401(k) with company match.
- Paid time off, holidays, and access to employee assistance programs.
- Ongoing training and advancement pathways.
Your Core Proficiencies
- Equipment and mechanical troubleshooting
- Machine setups for production runs
- Experience in metal casting environments
- Blueprint and schematic reading
If you thrive on solving tough mechanical challenges and want your work to directly influence production performance, we would like to meet you.
