IATF Quality Engineer | East Lansing, MI

Salary Range: $82,000 - $117,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 standards and customer-specific requirements.
• Lead APQP and PPAP activities for new product introduction and changes.
• Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions (e.g., 8D methodology) for quality issues.
• Conduct internal, process, and product audits, and support external IATF and customer audits.
• Develop, maintain, and approve quality documentation such as FMEAs, Control Plans, and Work Instructions.
• Utilize statistical process control (SPC) and measurement system analysis (MSA) for process monitoring and improvement.
• Manage supplier quality performance, including SCARs and supplier development initiatives.

Recommended Qualifications

• Expertise in IATF 16949 standard and its practical application within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
• Demonstrated ability to apply problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa) for root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Experience conducting internal and external quality system, process, and product audits.
• Strong analytical and statistical skills for process control, data interpretation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field with 3-5 years of quality engineering experience in automotive manufacturing.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification
• Proficiency with statistical software (e.g., Minitab, JMP) for advanced quality data analysis
• Experience with supplier quality development and management
• Certified Lead Auditor for IATF 16949 or ISO 9001
